I’ve noticed a lot more attempts at upselling food at the various coffee shops and cafes I go to in London. Usually this is the simple act of asking “Would you like any food with that?”.

Most of the time I just say no, and that’s exactly what I mean. Other times, the real answer is “Yeah, I actually would like some food, but all you have is processed junk and sugar filled cakes that I’m not going to buy. If only you had something more healthy…”.

I never say the latter of course.

If any one of the coffee shops I visited actually asked me why I never get any food there, and acted on the answer, they’d end up getting more of my money, and more regularly too.
